Optical Illusion Cardigan Pattern by Leslye Solomon

Here's a chance to enjoy combining colors to create the optical illusion caused by vertical striping.  This partial, side-to-side cardigan with a bottom-to-top yoke and sleeves hangs below the widest part of the outer hip and is very flattering for all figure types.  

MATERIALS:

1 skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Purple, color number 6242 (Color 1)

1 skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Fuschia, color number 6235 (Color 2)

1 skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Teal, color number 6285 (Color 3)

1 skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Green, color number 6275 (Color 4)

1 skein Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Brown, color number 6205 (Color 5)

3 skeins Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Black, color number 6245 (Color 6)

Size 8 U.S. circular needle, 32-inch length, or size to obtain gauge.

1 set of size 8 U.S. double pointed needles for piped edge.

FINISHED SIZES:

Extra small (34” - 35”), Small (39”- 40”), Medium (44” - 45”), Large (49” - 50”)

The length of this garment is determined by the stitches and the width is determined by the rows.

Please change the length if desired. Our sample starts at 21” from round neck point to bottom front point and increases at side to 28.5” from shoulder to bottom edge (this includes yoke). If a longer or shorter garment is desired, please adjust your stitch count below yoke, and adjust yarn purchase as well.

For your convenience, directions for each size will be shown in the corresponding color above.

GAUGE:  Use any other similar sized yarn to obtain gauge.
